I’ve love cucumbers, especially when they’re sliced up and doused with chile powder and lemon juice…yum! The cool crisp taste of a cucumber has always been my answer to a warm day. When I was young, I loved a cucumber for what it was—food. But today, I’ve grown fond of what it naturally is—a healthy, delicious, all-purpose fruit?

It’s hard to neglect the advantages of this naturally occurring multi-tool for everyday life.

Did you know that a cucumber contains most of the vitamins you need every day? One cucumber contains Vitamin B1, B2, B3, B5 and B6, Folic Acid, Vitamin C, Calcium, Iron, Magnesium, Phosphorus, Potassium and Zinc. They are also a good source of B Vitamins and Carbohydrates, which provide a quick boost that can last for hours. Even the skin of a cucumber is worth eating. It’s a good strong source of Vitamin C.

Eating cucumbers often can be ideal for people looking to shed a few pounds. The dietary fiber in cucumbers is effective in ridding the body of toxins from the digestive system, helping digestion.

Fun Fact: Suffering from high or low blood pressure? The Magnesium, Potassium, and fiber found in cucumbers are also known to effectively regulate your blood pressure.

The cool thing about a cucumber is that one can go a long way. Placing a few slices in a small pie tin in your garden will give off a scent that will drive away pests.

After a long night of drinking, make sure to eat a few slices before going to bed to avoid that unwanted hangover. There are enough B vitamins and electrolytes to replenish your body while you’re unconscious.

A cucumber is also good for fighting cravings, bad breath, polishing those dancin’ shoes, faucets, sinks or stainless steel fixtures, and for fixing squeaky door hinges. Yea, try rubbing a slice on that hinge for some peace and quiet…Boom!

Aroma therapy? Certainly. Cut up a cucumber and place it in a boiling pot of water. The nutrients from the cucumber will be released in the steam, creating a soothing, relaxing aroma that can relieve stress.

No matter what you use it for, you can’t go wrong with a cucumber. It’s the one fruit that won’t let you down!
