Chocolate Chip Cookies

Eating health for some people means sticking to a strict diet; for others, it comes down to how long they can last before submitting to familiar cravings. Take it from me, dieting isn’t easy, and it’s always a work in progress. However, completely giving up on a diet should never be an option. What’s wrong with cheating every once in a while? In my opinion, it gives you a little room to breathe and much more room for improvement.

Listed below is a simple recipe for a familiar treat. The good news is that they only have 88 calories!

Ingredients:

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour (about 10 ounces)
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large egg whites
  • 3/4 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • Cooking spray

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°.
  2. Lightly spoon flour into measuring cups (level with a knife) and add it to a large bowl.
  3. Now add the flour, baking soda, and salt, stirring with a whisk.
  4. In a separate large bowl, combine sugars and butter; beat with a mixer at medium speed until well blended. Add vanilla and egg whites; beat 1 minute.
  5. Finally, combine the mixtures and add chocolate chips; beat until blended.
  6. Drop dough by level tablespoons 2 inches apart onto a baking sheet coated with cooking spray.
  7. Bake at 350° for 10 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool on pans for 2 minutes. Remove from pans; cool completely on wire racks.
